This month’s book is Queen's Shadow by E.K. Johnston
Queen’s Shadow: Part 4 of 4
1. This book contains a lot of familiar characters. Palpatine and Organa, Mon Mothma and R2-D2. But also a lot of nods to some characters that might not be so well-known, like Clovis, Farr, and the Jedi Depa Billaba. What character(s) did you want to see that didn't appear?
2. I'm a little confused by R2-D2 - I thought he was Anakin's droid? Now it seems he's Padmé's?
3. Most Star Wars novels tend to be packed with action. In Queen's Shadow the action was more political and while a Jedi showed up, she wasn't welding a lightsaber. How does the focus on political plot vs. action plot impact you? Do you like the political intrigue or yearn for evil to be vanguished with a blaster? Padmé herself seemed torn on this. She said "I've fought evil, and it was easy: I shot it. It's apathy I can't stand."
4. Did the epilogue come as a surprise? Did it alter how you felt about the book overall?
5. Are there any other points you'd like to discuss?
