1. Star Wars is often called a 'Space Fantasy' story and Hambly is generally known as a writer of fantasy. What genre influences do you sense at work in this novel?

2. A classic sci-fi trope is using stories about robots/androids to explore what it means to be human. How does that come through here and what underlying message about technology do you think was meant to be shared?
