1. One of the things I've been curious about for a while is why using hyperspace in the Republic era seems to be so different to that in the time of the movies. It has me wondering if understanding of hyperspace expanded so ships aren't tied to specific lanes any longer, or if Han Solo is/was great at finding convenient lanes on the fly...

2. It's a shame that knowing there's no love triangle in this novel, one of the obstacles isn't going to be Syl's feelings for her ex and the Senator. Although I feel better knowing that Graf won't be an obstacle to the relationship drama, because if he'd were, I'd spend the rest of the book saying "but why him, and not the senator?" I suspect we're heading for a number of clashes - between Nan and other Nihil, Graf and the Jedi (and potentially Syl), Syl and her mother... and that's not counting all the hijinx involving ships disappearing, or the Oracle's family potentially discovering she's still alive and coming to collect her.

3. I'm surprised at how little Syl knew about her mother's background. It really does seem to have been a big leap from outstanding university researcher to travelling scrapper and cargo carrier. I wonder if this means the Nihil targetted her specifically? Where they hunting Syl's mother?
