Welcome to our first of four check-in and discussion posts for our Book of the Month.
This month’s book is Dark Disciple by Christie Golden
Chapters 1-10
Dark Disciple Part 1 of 4
1. The Jedi had undercover agents. That seems to be a bit ethically conflicted with the whole purpose and creed of the Jedi. How does this tie in with what is happening to the Jedi Order during this time period?
2. Our two protagonists seem to be chummy now, but we know the undercurrent is there. One is a former Sith and the other is running a con. Are you feeling sympathetic to one or the other at this stage? Neither? Both?
3. Have you watched The Clone Wars series? If not, do the references to past events feel like enough explanation? (ie. the incident involving Boba Fett, for example)
4. The premise is that the Jedi Council wants to assassinate Count Dooku. From the prequel movies, we know Anakin Skywalker eventually kills Dooku at Palpatine's insistence. How does knowing the outcome of the 'mission' impact your reading?
5. What other thoughts do you have? How are you liking it so far?
FYI - There's no need to answer all (or any) of the questions above - they're just talking points to get us started. Informal chatter is more than welcome! In-person book clubs often veer off topic, it's okay if we do as well. :)
All I ask is that you try to avoid spoilers for things past chapter 10 of the book.
