Welcome to our third of four check-in and discussion posts for our Book of the Month.
This month’s book is Razor's Edge (Star Wars: Empire and Rebellion #1) by Martha Wells
Chapters 9-12
Razor's Edge Part 3 of 4
1. Luke, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 are crewing the Falcon. Why isn't Chewie in charge? Or is he in charge on board and Luke taking the reins on board the station?
2. How good does Han really bluff? We saw that he did okay in front of Viest until his ship showed up.
3. Were you expecting Metera's death? What do you think her crew will do now (assuming they survive this adventure)?
4. Other thoughts?
FYI - There's no need to answer all (or any) of the questions above - they're just talking points to get us started. Informal chatter is more than welcome! In-person book clubs often veer off topic, it's okay if we do as well. :)
All I ask is that you try to avoid spoilers for things past Part III of the book.
Please help us choose our next book! Vote in our August poll

Date: 2021-07-27 12:26 am (UTC)I did love that the four of them were racing to save the day.
2. I know that Han is supposedly a fantastic card player, but sometimes I get the impression he's not as good at is as he thinks he is. Thankfully he's good enough at bluffing that's he's survived some of the tight spots he finds himself in.
3. I wasn't expecting it - at least not at this point in the book. I might've mentioned I read this before
and have forgotten most of the plot, apparently. I hope most of the crew choose to join Leia, but suspect some might go their own way.4. The pacing of this is almost too quick to be split into four parts. :/

3. I was expecting deaths among some of the named characters introduced in this novel, but... not at this point? I'm finding the pacing in this novel a bit odd. I think it's because I can't decide if the detour to the pirate station that makes up half the novel is important in plot terms or not. Maybe the ending is going to tie it all together for me?
4. I'm very curious about who the spy is. I'm wondering how many big hints I've missed...
