This month was a themed month. The idea is to read listen to any Star Wars book you'd like that can be applied to the theme.
1. How was the ending?
2. Were there any scenes that struck you as memorable?
3. Would you recommend it to other readers?
Next Month: From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back by various authors

Date: 2025-01-02 09:20 am (UTC)I think where this book fell down for me is that there was a fair amount of time spent around a group who're opposed to the Jedi and the other force-using organisations because they believe that the Force isn't something that should be used, and that when it is used, it has repercussions as it corrects for whatever the Force-user has done by doing the opposite somewhere else. The Path of the Open Hand should've made for interesting protagonists, but I felt I came away knowing less about them than I did the cult we met in the Alphabet Squadron stories.
The worldbuilding was interesting, and the two main leads felt nicely developed, but the other characters don't feel as if they were as well-developed. I may be suffering a bit from listening via Audiobook, which can make it harder for me to keep track of characters, but I think I'd have enjoyed this one more as a comic.

Date: 2025-01-02 04:22 pm (UTC)I enjoyed 'Most Wanted' and felt it was a good prequel to the movie, Solo. It was more Qi'ra's POV than advertised, which I liked. The heist and running-for-our-lives plot was engaging. It did take me a bit to get used to all the sound effects, but eventually tuned most of them out. I usually like Star Wars sound effects, so maybe it was my mood (IDK).
What book would you like to read for February? Something from this list or something else? I don't have any strong feelings in any direction although I thought it might too early for you to have a good source for 'Red Blade'.

Date: 2025-01-03 04:59 pm (UTC)Looking through the reading list in our club, only two of the books are available via kindle or as ebooks in the UK at the moment, one of which is Red Blade, oddly enough. I like the various other books by Delilah S. Dawson that I've read, so how would you feel about Rise of the Red Blade for this month's read?
